I finally have all sections moved from the old layout in Rochelle assembled into the new layout here in Georgia. Nine and a half of the 11 sections made it into the new layout. Overall I have been very happy with the way the sections held up through the packing, 760 miles travel, unpacking and storage over the past year. As of July 1, we have now lived in Georgia one year.

From the pictures you can get an idea of the finish level of this room of the layout.  I'll still paint the floor as some point, but that will be as finished as it will get.  I still have a lot of work to do, but I am happy with the progress.  As you can see, I need to add a backdrop to the Rochelle area.

The UP/BNSF crossing signals made it through the move pretty much unscathed.  Screwing the margarine containers over the signals worked beautifully.  It'll be interesting to see if they will still light up when connected to the signal driver.

Part of Global III did not make it into the new configuration so a new section had to be added.  The new configuration will be an improvement since the old Global III was curved an it is now prototypically straight.

Next up will be bench work and track for the Wheaton, IL area and then the layout will completed around the entire basement.  My goal is to have that completed by August 1.

  1. congratulations Daryl Geneva Sub is almost complete Rochelle is in and now on to the Wheaton section. Global 3 Yard looks nice the new yard lead will fix out the kinks that the old yard lead had you had a 10 degree curve where it met Franklin Grove now this is straightened out and it looks like what Global 3 looks like. you have one more intermodel yard to build Global 2 Yard in Elmhurst which connects to Proviso. keep up the good work Daryl.
