West Proviso Loco Yard Throat Complete

Installed two more turnouts and completed the west Proviso loco yard throat.  The throat provides four six engine tracks total.  Five of the tracks will lead into the Proviso engine house.  The sixth track, the one off by itself next to the tanker, will be on outside fueling track.  I have just eight more turnouts to complete (105 done so far).

I'm really looking forward to starting some scenery this summer once I get all the trackwork complete.

Here's the prototype fueling track

And now.. the East End of Proviso Engine Facilities

Installed the two additional turnouts on the east end of the engine yard at Proviso.  I still have four turnouts to complete the Proviso engine tracks.  As of right now there are four but enventually there will be six;  five for the engine house and one for the fueling station.

Four Engine Tracks for West end of Provo Loco Facility

Installed two of the four turnouts on the west end of the Proviso loco facility. This now gives four tracks for engine storage.   This weekend I hope to install the other two tunrouts on the east end to make four storage tracks from east to west.  Looking at the prototype photos again, I've decided on six total tracks for the facility.  Five of the tracks will run into the engine house while the sixth one will be outside the enginehouse for a fueling and sanding station.

Turnouts 100-103 for Engine Facilities

I spent the weekend working on some more turnouts, specifically for the Proviso engine facilities.  I spent the first part of the weekend working on wiring plans for the control panel.  Ran short of available inputs in the area of engine facilities so I needed to figure out the best plan of attack and then carry the plan out.  Ended up using an available SE8c's 8 inputs for the the Proviso yard throat which made 8 inputs from a Team Digital SRC16 available for the engine facilities.  The SRC16 is installed directly under the engine facilities so it will be just a short run to control panel.  Once I got that taken care of, I turned my attention to building the four turnouts.  These fours turnouts, together with the two already installed will provide 4 engine tracks (double ended engine yard).  Eventually there will be 6 or 7 engine tracks total.  More on whether it will be 6 or 7 later.  Hopefully I will find some time this week to build a control pannel and install the turnouts.  The bottom picture show the two tracks that are currently in use and are very crowded.  The two right hand turnouts will go on the west end of the engine yard while the two left hand turnouts will go on the east end.

Rochelle Industries

Turnout have been built and installed for the Rochelle industrial district which is on the BNSF mainline. The four turnouts provide sidings for three indutries; Hines Lumber, Total Logistics Control and BP Oil. There will likely be a second warehouse that will share the two track siding with Total Logistics Control. The four installed turnouts bring the total tunrout count to 99. The next turnout will be number 100. May have to have a special commemerative observance for the 100th turnout. Probably not!

Just 14 more turnouts to go.  Then I will move on to finishing the BNSF loop. I am hoping to get that all done by summer so that I can concentrate on scenery during our summer break.
